Santa Cruz Magazine Summer 2011
This issue features a compelling collection of articles that celebrate the rich cultural, sporting,and entrepreneurial landscape of the Santa Cruz region. The issue also showcases prominent local businesses and community events that reflect the vibrant spirit of Santa Cruz. Highlights of this issue includes the scientific, cultural, and artistic vitality of the Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz regions. A central focus is the pioneering marine science conducted in Monterey Bay, featuring profiles of Gary Griggs, Director of UCSC's Institute of Marine Sciences; Christopher Scholin, President of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI); David Packard, designer of MBARI’s ROV Ventana; Kenneth Coale, Director of Moss Landing Marine Laboratories; and Julie Packard, Executive Director of the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
