A Legacy Left Behind

Tiring of the winters in New York and wanting to make a fresh start in California, John Browns widow and children took the Oregon Trail to reach the west coast. They were aided by many friends of her husbands calling both financial and in providing protection. They spent some time in Red Bluff and Salmon Brown stayed in the Sacramento Valley. Mary Brown and her three daughters moved to Saratoga and died there.
