Mary Bennett's daughter married Isaac Graham under contract arrangement. Mary was not happy with the arrangement and tried to break the marriage up legally to no avail. When a son from another marriage in Tennessee , Jesse Graham, appeared Catherine Bennett left her husband and went to Oregon. Isaac and Jesse went to the Bennet Mill to find out where Catherine was and gunfir erupted. Killed were Dennis Bennett and Mary was wounded. Jesse went to Texas and Mexico but when he returned in 1872 he was arrested. His was acquited under plea of self-defense.
