Creator of 'look alike' dolls looks back over her 92 years

A staff member at a local Convalescent Hospital discover that a 92 year old resident Dewes Cochran was a famous doll maker and organized a special presentationand book signing by the artist. Cochran was an artist in Europe in the 1930's and had to sail home to care for her ailing father and decided to stay in the United States after his death. She began making dolls as a way to make a living and eventually realized that "the rich and famous" would love to have a doll that looked like their children. This led to mass production of the dolls and she is known for creating the Amerian Children collection which are collectors items today. After moving to this are in 1960 she was the artist in redience at Villa Montalva and later Roaring Camp.
