Storms batter the coast but spare the valley

Mudslides and torrential rain was predicted similar to winter storms of 1982 but the main problems for the valley were downed tree limbs and loss of power to wide areas. The coast saw 70 mph winds, high tides and multiple homes damaged or lost due to the storm
