Fox Company Working Hard; Theater Night

The big Irving Cummings unit of the Fox Film Company at present filming the John Golden play, "Pigs," in this city, today completed its "shooting" on Catalpa Street in East Santa Cruz. The first two days of the company's local work were spent at the picturesque J. A. Gayton residence on High Street.

Tomorrow will be a day of rest for the entire troupe and many members of the staff and cast this afternoon declared their intention of taking a Sunday dip in the surf providing the present warm weather continues. Monday will see the cast and staff on a San Lorenzo River location.

Director Cummings, seen today, was enthusing with great gusto over results to date in his latest Santa Cruz production. "Your climate is ultra-ideal," he said. "Your scenery in its beauty and variety is great almost beyond imagination." He unhesitatingly predicted an ever increasing influx of Los Angeles picture producing units to this locality.

All members of the big troupe, from Director Cummings down are earnestly preparing for their forthcoming personal appearance at the New Santa Cruz Theater on the occasion of "Fox Night" on Wednesday of next week. For this occasion Manager Earl Amos has secured "The Johnstown Flood" for presentation. Mr. Cummings made this story in Santa Cruz last fall with George O'Brien and Janet Gaynor in the leading roles. Miss Gaynor is also starred in "Pigs" and will appear at the New Santa Cruz with the balance of her company on Fox Night. Art Housman, our old Santa Cruz friend, and all the rest of the big cast, will also be introduced from the stage.
