The Frank Borzage unit of the Fox Film Corporation, charged with the filming of "The Dixie Merchant," arrived in Santa Cruz early this morning thirty strong and registered at the St. George Hotel. Coincident with the arrival of the players and directorial staff there also came the gigantic equipment trucks, mobile electric generator and staff of electricians, grip and property men.

Madge Bellamy and mother, Mrs. A. D. Philpotts, arrived by motor last evening and registered at the Casa del Rey. Miss Bellamy, recently here playing the lead in Fox's "Thunder Mountain," is also feminine lead in "The Dixie Merchant."

The balance of the company, including Director Frank Borzage of "Humoresque" and "Lazy Bones" fame, and Assistant Director O. O. "Bunny" Dull, will be quartered at the uptown hostelry. Jack Mulhall, lead, will arrive tomorrow morning. Miss Peggy McCall, publicity directress with "Thunder Mountain," is here serving in a like capacity with the company now here and today was greeted by many friends of summertime.

Dan and Lew Borzage, brothers of the noted director, are also in the company,--Lew as clerk and Dan as musician.

Varying a bit from a program of other Fox companies filming in this vicinity, Santa Cruz' downtown district will this time witness a bit of the interesting action of the story. In this regard it is interesting to chronicle that a "horse car" will once again traverse a local street.

The business manager has just returned from San Francisco where he completed arrangements for the shipment to this city of an original horse-pulled street car, track and horse. The line of this "Tonnerville railway" will traverse the willow-bordered length of Short Street, from Front Street to the San Lorenzo River. Its schedule has not yet been announced, but Director Borzage assured this morning that it will "run every once in awhile" and will serve in particular those who have nothing particular to do or nowhere in particular to go."
