Harry West, auto driver, and when occasion requires, film actor of no mean ability, is authority for the statement that Cecil B. DeMille, famous director of the Jesse L. Lasky Film Company who has directed parts of two pictures in a Santa Cruz environment, will soon arrive here with fifteen players, including Jack Pickford, and start making exteriors on a new Lasky film, presumably "Freckles."

Mary Pickford is expected later with a company of forty to put on another production.

George Staffler, a good judge of motion pictures, says that "The Girl of the Timberclaims," which he saw in an Oakland theater recently, is a splendid production. The exteriors of this photoplay were made up the coast on the Gregory place and at the Swanton logging camp of the San Vicente Lumber Company by a company of players of the Fine Arts Films, a D. W. Griffith organization releasing through Triangle. Constance Talmadge was in the cast. The scenario was written by Miss Mary H. O'Connor, a former Santa Cruz woman.

The new Santa Cruz company headed by Willis Robards and Dorothy Davenport is daily expected in Santa Cruz. They have been delayed in Los Angeles due to the time consumed in completing the cast for the first production to be put on here."
