Senate Group Accepts Local CC Invitation

The California State Senate Interim Committee on the Japanese problem has accepted an invitation from the Chamber of Commerce of the Pajaro Valley and will hold a hearing here on Wednesday afternoon, July 7, at 2 o'clock.

This was the report made to the executive committee of the Chamber at its meeting Tuesday noon at Buckhart's by President Earl G. Callender.

Sen. Hugh Donnolly of Turlock, chairman of the committee, will conduct the hearing at the Chamber of Commerce Assembly Hall here, and has requested that the District Attorney, the Mayor and Chief of Police of Santa Cruz and Watsonville, Defense Council leaders, the heads of all veterans organizations, farm leaders and others interested in solving the Japanese problem, appear before the committee next Wednesday afternoon and present their views.

Stenographic report is to be made of the views expressed by Santa Cruz county citizens, and these, with data secured from other sections of the state, is to be compiled in a report to be submitted to the next legislature by Sen. Donnolly's committee.

Persons wishing to appear before the committee are urged to send their names to the Chamber of Commerce in order that the committee may gauge the probable time of the session and determine whether it will be necessary for the committee to remain in Watsonville overnight, Callender explained."
