County schools enrollment shows a decrease of 679 pupils during the 1942-43 school year over the previous year, it was reported by Mrs. Janie Stocking, County Superintendent of Schools.

This decrease has been due to evacuation of the Japanese and to the many families moving to war production centers.

The average daily attendance in the Santa Cruz high school district dropped 124 - from 1289 to 1165.

The high school attendance alone had a decrease of 136 - from 902 to 766.

The elementary attendance dropped 200 - from 1423 to 1223 thus bringing the total loss in Santa Cruz to 336.

Watsonville elementary schools lost 89 - 1196 to 1099.
