Funeral of an Old Soldier
The funeral of Chauncey L Turner, an old soldier who died Saturday at his home on Wilkes Circle, took place Tuesday afternoon from his late home, and was held under the auspices of the G.A.R. A large number of friends attended. The body was shipped to Cypress Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Turner was born in Vermont in 1843. He enlisted in Company D., Second Vermont Infantry, on July 14, 1863, and was discharged July 20, 1865 on the close of the civil war.
He came to Santa Cruz about ten years ago and at one time conducted a harness shop on the east side.
