Comrades and Their Wives

A most delightful surprise was prepared on Saturday afternoon for J.M. Treanor, Grand Army man, by his comrades and their wives.

The afternoon was spent in social games and cards; and though those who had prepared the surprise had found no time to decorate the Treanor home, it is so beautifully situated as so tastefully furnished that floral decorations were hardly needed to bring out the garden character of the home.

The occasion for this cheerful reunion was the celebration of the seventy fourth birth day of Comrade Treanor, and at half past three there was a banquet served by the wives of the comrades that would have done credit to the most renowned chef in town. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. G.M. Shippy, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Meyers, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Munroe, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Calhoun; Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Williams, Comrade Pierson.

Mrs. Treanor and the daughter of Mrs. Phillips were surprised as much as was Comrade Treanor himself.

79th Anniversary of Old Soldier

There was a very pleasant gathering of friends to celebrate the 79th birthday of Comrade [James M?] Treanor of Van Ness Ave. Old Glory, the wonderful flag of this nation and republic, was highly exalted by the old comrades. A fine musicale entertained the company, and the superabundance of good things that decorated the table made merriment for everyone. Old time war episodes were exchanged in conversation. There were present upon this joyful occasion Comrades Lanning and Lawson and wives, Comrades Harris, McCollister and Wilkins, Mmes Sterret and Ranking.
