DIED: THORP - In Santa Cruz Oct 11, John Bailey Thorp, a native of Texas, 78 years of age.
Funeral services will be held today at the C.C. Chase undertaking parlors at 2 o'clock. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend.
G.A.R. Veteran Is Called by Death
John Bailey Thorp, a resident of Stockton and an old G.A.R. veteran passed away yesterday, his death occurring on the east side where he has been residing at 23 Clay street. Mr. Bailey had only been residing in Santa Cruz two weeks.
The deceased was seventy eight years of age and a native of Texas.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the C.C. Chase undertaking parlors by the G.A.R.
The remains will be shipped to Yountville for interment.

Services Held For Old Soldier
Wallace Reynolds post of the G.A.R. were in charge of the funeral services held on Sunday afternoon at the Chase undertaking parlors for John Bailey Thorp, who passed away on Saturday night at 23 Clay street. The deceased was a resident of Stockton and had only lived here for two weeks.
The remains were sent to Yountville for burial.
