Death of Ed Price
A Long Time Popular Citizen of Santa Cruz
News comes today of the death of Edward Price, at the Odd Fellows Home at Thermalito, where he as been acting as store keeper for the last 15 years.
Mr. Price was an early day citizen of Santa Cruz, being remembered by old timers as cook at the Cowell lime works in the fifties. He afterwards enlisted and served through the civil war as a soldier. He returned to Santa Cruz at the close of the war, and for several years was bookkeeper for the late R.C. Kirby. He was also for several years Deputy County treasurer.
Mr. Price was an expert accountant a model bookkeeper and always a gentleman, in whatever occupation he was engaged, and is kindly remembered by all the older citizens. He resided in the Southern part of the State for a time before going to the Odd Fellows' Home. His wife died a few weeks ago.
