Old Soldier Dies
Charles C. Piffard Passes Away Saturday Evening
Charles Carroll Piffard, a well known East Side resident and an old soldier, passed away Saturday evening at his home on DeLaveaga street, where he has resided for a number of years.
The deceased was born at Piffard [Livingston County] New York, and at the time of his death was eighty years of age.
He was a veteran of the Civil War having been a member of Company L. of the Colorado Volunteer Cavalry.
It was in 1874 when he came to California and located in Kern City and resided there until he came to Santa Cruz seven years ago. In this city he was married in 1905 to Fannie E. Brown, he having been a bachelor.
The wife and a brother, H.F. Piffard of New York survive him.

The funeral of C.C. Piffard was held on Tuesday afternoon the services being conducted by Rev. J.B. Orr of the Congregational church. The pall bearers were F.W. Baldwin, Mr. Austin, E.A. Green, C.W. Taintor, A.W. Hodge, and O.J. Cook.
