DIED: PEARSON - In Santa Cruz, Sept 26, Samuel W. Pearson, a native of Indiana, aged 83 years 1 month.

Funeral of the deceased will be held from the C.C. Chase undertaking parlors Monday, Sept. 28 at 2 o'clock p.m. Friends and acquaintances are invited to attend. Interment I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Death Removes Civil War Vet

S.W. Pearson, aged 83 years, a civil war veteran and a resident of Santa Cruz for six years, died yesterday morning at 3:30 o'clock at his home 55 National street. His demise was due to a stroke of paralysis which he suffered three weeks ago.

The deceased was a native of Indiana and has been a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for over half a century. He is survived by a son, William Pearson of this city and a daughter, Mrs. L.W. Mosher of Dallas Tex.

The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Chase undertaking parlors and will be under the auspices of the G.A.R.

Funeral Over Old Soldier

Impressive funeral services were held yesterday at Chase's undertaking parlors over SW Pearson, a Civil war veteran, and were under the auspices of Wallace Reynolds post, G.A.R.,. with many friends in attendance, and with beautiful flowers about the casket.

The G.A.R. service was conducted by the officers, and the hymns, "The Tide is Flowing Out" and "the Gates of Gold," were sung by Mrs. Mary Croop and Mrs. Duncan MacDonald.
