W.W. Parker Dies at Age 87
William Whitwell Parker passed away yesterday afternoon at the family residence on Broadway, after a few days illness.
Mr. Parker was born in Boston June 24, 1837, and was 87 years of age at the time of his passing. He was of a prominent New England family and bore the title of captain, serving in that capacity during the Civil war, with the 23 Massachusetts cavalry.
He came to Santa Cruz in 1895 and has been one known for his literary and intellectual attainments and one who was interested in current events and the progress of the age. He was especially interested in All Saints Unitarian church, being one of its founders and having served the church for many years as a trustee. He was a member of the G.A.R.
Surviving him is a wife, Mrs. Harriet E. Parker, and two sons, William Bell of Placerville and Edwin Stone of Boston. The funeral will be strictly private.
