Santa Cruz Sentinel (November 27, 1926)

DIED: PAGE - In Santa Cruz November 25, 1926, Rufus Page, a native of Maine aged 83 years.

Funeral services will be held from the Wessendorf mortuary today, Saturday at 2 p.m. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend.

Rufus Page Dies at Hospital

Rufus Page who had resided here for over 50 years, died on Thanksgiving noon at a local hospital. He was one of the early residents of the county and was especially well known among the old settlers.

He was employed many years at the Pacific Ocean House, and later at Hotel St. George.

Following his services in the hotel he was in the dairy business and resided for a number of years on Rooney street and later on Albion street. His wife preceded him in death.

His body is at the chapel at Wessendorf's mortuary and the casket is covered with the national flag, as he served in the revenue cutter service under Admiral Farragut, USN, and he was a pensioner for this naval service.

Mr. Page was born in Maine and was 83 years of age.

The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Charles Leachman of Calvary church, this afternoon. Wallace Reynolds post G.A.R. will attend.

Services Over Rufus Page

Funeral services were conducted yesterday by the Rev. Charles Leachman of Calvary church at Wessendorf's mortuary, over Rufus Page.

Having served in the service under Admiral Farragut, the national flag covered the casket and members of the Wallace Reynolds Post G.A.R. attended in a body.

The body is to be sent Monday to Cypress Lawn for cremation.
