Editorial Notes from Robert L. NelsonPlacidus Ord was the brother of the man after whom Fort Ord was named. Ord resided at the Ord Ranch, next to what is now Cabrillo College. He was killed by a runaway horse in San Antonio, Tex., July 10 1876.
