Santa Cruz Sentinel (March 10, 1921)

Death Claims Denny Mulligan

C.J. Todd, once of this city, writes to the "Sentinel" the following:

On Monday night, March 7th Dennis Mulligan, formerly of Santa Cruz, died in the soldiers' home hospital at Sawtelle, California. he had been confined to his bed only a few days and seemed in no danger of passing so soon. For months I have seen Denny about the hospital and in the grounds surround, and often talked with him, occasionally wrote letters for him. He often spoke of Santa Cruz and the folks there with whom he was acquainted, and several time recently made application for a pass to visit there, but each time his health failed and he was forced to give over his visit. He was always loyal to the home of his choice, the "City by the Sea," and never failed to speak a good word in its praise. He was looked after by Father Hurley, the local priest, and will be buried from the soldiers' home morgue on Thursday morning, March 10, with the Catholic service.
