DIED: MAY- In Santa Cruz June 8, James H. May, aged 75 years, native of Illinois.
Funeral of deceased will be held from the Free Methodist church, S. Branciforte Av. this Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Friends and acquaintances are invited to attend. Interment in I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Dies, Result of Wound From Indian Arrow
James H. May died yesterday at his home at 24 Clinton street. Mr. May was a veteran of the Civil war and a comrade of the G.A.R. and was a man who had many friends.
Mr. May was born 75 years ago in Illinois, and came here from Everett, Wash, eight years ago with his wife. He was in the Civil war and also was a scout under Buffalo Bill and received severe wound in the head from an arrow while a scout, from an Indian, and from which he always had trouble and which finally caused his death.
Besides his wife he leaves five children- Mrs. Rose Martin, Jetmore, Kansas; Mrs. Fannie Finley, Salem Oregon; William May, San Francisco; John May, Montana, and Mrs. Mannie Campbell, Santa Rosa.

The funeral of James H. May who died June 8, will be held today from the Free Methodist church at 2:30PM. while he was an old soldier he was not a member of the G.A.R. but all old soldiers are invited to attend the funeral.
