Civil War Veteran Dies At Bakersfield

Albert M. Manville was born July 10, 1836, in Delaware county, Ohio, and passed away March 22, 1931, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank W. Gross of Bakersfield, aged 94 years, 8 months and 12 days. He was united in marriage to Harriet L. White, September 23, 1858, at Valparaiso, Porter county Indiana.

Shortly after this they moved to Missouri, where he joined the state militia, serving one years then answered the call of this country. He served to the close of the civil war and was honorably discharged.

He leaves to mourn his going the wife, Harriett L. Manville; one son George H. Manville; three daughters, Mrs. Adah Harriman of Santa Cruz, Mrs. Clara Gross of Jennings, Kansas, and Mrs. Frank W. Gross of Bakersfield; ten grand children, fourteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held March 25, 1931, at Scrovians' chapel and the remains were laid to rest in the Grand View mausoleum at Glendale, CA.
