Death of Capt. James A. Lusk

The passing away of Capt. Lusk is the loss of an unpretentious but worthy man. In his prime he was a man of marked worth and ability. Quiet, reserved and dignified in manner, but gentle and social with his intimate friends.

During the civil war he commanded a steamboat on the Mississippi and Ohio rivers that in government employ in transporting troops and supplies. Often under fire from the enemy batteries and sharp shooters from the shores. But his skill and vigilance enabled him to always successfully land his passengers and all supplies entrusted to him. He had a fund of reminiscences that were interesting where he when he was in a mood to relate them. In later years he was with Mr. Puckered as Supt. of his mines in Idaho and Utah. The death of Mr. Puckered a few years ago affected him very much, and since then he has lived quietly in the city making his headquarters with CE Lilly. He slowly failed for several months until the end came to him Wednesday last as one goes to sleep.
