DIED: LITTLEFIELD In Santa Cruz July 29 Gustavus B. Littlefield, aged 83 years, a native of Maine.
Funeral of the deceased will be held today (Tuesday) at 2:30 PM from the Chase undertaking parlors. Friends and acquaintances are invited to attend. Interment SCruz/OMP cemetery.

G.B. Littlefield Answers Summons
Gustavus B. Littlefield, resident of Santa Cruz since 1888, passed away Sunday morning at 8:45 o'clock at the family home on Felker street. The deceased was born at Kennebec, Maine, eighty three years ago. He came to San Francisco in 1868. After coming to Santa Cruz he married Miss Carrie Peoples of this city.
Mr. Littlefield was by trade a shoemaker and for a number of years was with A. Gosliner. Later he went into business for himself, having a shop on Locust Street. Several years ago he retired and has been failing in health for the past two years.
Mr. Littlefield was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in the navy. He was on the "Niagara." the largest vessel in the navy at that time. He took part in the bombardment of Fort McRea at Pensacola, Fla. He was honorably discharged in 1862.
He was a member of the Wallace Reynolds Post, No. 32 of the G.A.R. His wife is a member of the Wallace Reynolds Post, No. 57 of the W.R.C.
Mr. Littlefield's surviving relatives are his wife, Mrs. Carrie Littlefield, and one son Edgar G. Littlefield, of the firm of Newhall and Littlefield. The deceased led an honorable industrious life, and was a man with many friends in this city who esteemed him for his fine qualities.
The funeral will take place Tuesday afternoon from the Chase undertaking parlors.

Burial of G.B. Littlefield
Funeral services over the late Gustavus Littlefield were held yesterday afternoon from Chase's undertaking parlors, where the members of Wallace Reynolds Post G.A.R. and Wallace Reynolds Relief Corp attended in a body.
The services were conducted by Rev. I.B. Bristol of the First Methodist church and the G.A.R.
The hymns were sung by Mr. and Mrs. A.N. Mellor, and were Jesus Lover of My Soul and Gathering Home.
