DIED; FANCHER- In Santa Cruz October 1, Amos Fancher, aged 76 years a native of New York.

Civil War Vet Dies At Home

Amos Fancher, an old soldier and for 26 years a resident of California, died yesterday afternoon at the family residence, 275 Ocean street. Mr. Fancher has been ill for some time and has been a patient sufferer. He was born in New York, 76 years ago, and during the Civil War enlisted and served to preserve the Union.

Before coming to Santa Cruz his home was in Fresno, where he was in the real estate business. Mr. Fancher was also at one time a member of the Masonic fraternity.

He was a citizen honored, and a father and husband devoted to wife and children.

He leaves a wife, Mrs. Belle Fancher, and children, six daughters- Mrs. F.W. Grant, Paso Robles; Mrs. George Lindsay, Hanford; Mrs. Delos, Whipple, Mrs. Lloyd Mundy, Veva and Ada Fancher.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later. The body is at the Pacific Coast undertaking parlors.

Services Over Amos Fancher

The funeral services over the late Amos Fancher were held yesterday afternoon from the Pacific Coast Undertaking parlors, and were attended by the relatives and friends.

Floral pieces covered the casket, and were sent by the friends.

Rev. G.G. Kessel conducted the services, and read by special request the 10th chapter of St. John, from 1st to 11th verses, inclusive, and all of the 14th chapter of St. John, as these were committed to memory by deceased when a child. Mrs. R. A Schwarzmann sang Nearer My God to Thee." by special request.

The pallbearers were W.H. Peck, G.C. Shippy; M. Englehorn, S.W. Bond, W.M. Brown, C.J. Lawson.
