Santa Cruz Sentinel (March 14, 1926)

A Civil War veteran, W.B. Eaton, passed away yesterday at the family residence on Wilkes Circle where he has resided for ten years. He was especially known and esteemed by the old soldiers, as he was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic.

He was a Virginian, having been born in the Old Dominion State, 81 years ago. In the neighborhood he has the goodwill of all in that section of the city.

He is survived by a wife and four step children, the latter being William and Henry of Santa Cruz, John of Oakland and George Turner of San Francisco. Funeral services under the auspices of the G.A.R. will beheld Tuesday at the parlors of C.C. Chase.

DIED: EATON In Santa Cruz March 13, W.B. Eaton, native of Virginia, aged 81 years 8 months and 3 days.

Funeral of the deceased will be held from the C.C. Chase undertaking parlors today at 2 p.m. Friends and acquaintances are invited to attend. Interment in SCruz/OMP cemetery.

Funeral Held For an Old Soldier

Funeral services over W.B. Eaton, an old soldier was held yesterday afternoon from Chases' Undertaking Parlors and were conducted under the auspices of the Wallace Reynolds Post G.A.R.

Many were at the parlors and the services of the Episcopal Church were read by Rev. Charles Leachman rector of Calvary church.

The flower-covered casket was carried by the old soldiers and the burial was at SCruz/OMP cemetery.
