Sudden Passing of A.B.C. Delamater, Civil War Veteran

At the family residence on Barson Street yesterday morning, Adelbert B.C. Delamater, a veteran of the Civil War, passed away rather suddenly.

Mr. Delamater had been around his home and apparently was in good health, as he had been 10 minutes before his passing been talking with his neighbor, Mrs. Victoria Adams.

Mr. Delamater has resided in Santa Cruz for a period close to four years and was a man highly esteemed by his neighbors and among the old soldiers. He was often seen in company with his son Harry, who met with a serious accident some time ago while at work as a switchman at Swanton.

He is survived by his wife and family. One son, Harry, resides in this city, while other members of the family are in New York. The deceased was a native of New York and was 74 years of age.

DIED: DELAMETER-In Santa Cruz, January 31, Adelbert B.C. Delamater, aged 74 years, a native of New York. Funeral of deceased will be held from the Chase parlors this Thursday at two o'clock P.M. Friends and acquaintances are invited to attend.

Delamater Funeral

The funeral services of Adelbert Delamater, a member of post 38, LaCross Wis., were held at the Chase undertaking parlors at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Warren More, pastor of the Presbyterian church, and by Wallace Reynolds post, G.A.R., and at the cemetery by the Masons.

There was a large attendance of the G.A.R. and friends from the city and from Soquel.

The hymns, "Peace of God" and "Abide with Me" were sung by Mrs. Rupert Lease and Mrs. J. McCaslin.
