Union Veteran at Aromas Takes His Life With a Shot Gun
Watsonville- Louis Cummins, an old Union veteran, committed suicide at Aromas Tuesday morning by shooting himself through the stomach with a shotgun. Cummins committed the rash act in a cabin, which he occupied by himself for the past four or five years, ever since he came to aromas. The deceased was about 68 years of age. He was the recipient of a pension given him for injuries received during the Civil War, and as far as known he had no living relatives.
He lived alone and the first information of the tragedy was the finding of his lifeless body weltering in blood, by C.J. Slayton. The old gentleman has been in ill health and committed suicide in a fit of despondency.
