Another Old Soldier Called

Another old soldier, Cyrus W. Croop, passed away yesterday morning, one of the best known and who showed a great interest in Wallace Reynolds post, G.A.R. He was a member of that post and at all their gatherings and those held jointly with the Woman Relief Corps he was a leading figure.

His death occurred shortly after midnight at is home on Bay St., where he has resided since coming to Santa Cruz. He was a Pennsylvanian by birth, born 78 years ago and came to Santa Cruz from the San Joaquin valley. He had retired from active life when he came here, and soon made friends, as he was a genial, happy and companionable soul who easily formed friendships.

He loved Santa Cruz, and especially the beach, where during the summer in the afternoon he could usually be found surrounded by a friendly group of his associates. He was a good citizen who quietly did his share in the advancement of the best in the community life.

He leaves his wife, his devoted companion of years, Mrs. Adele Croop, and two brothers in this city, Zachariah of Maple street and W.B. of Peyton street.
