DIED: CHANDLER- In Santa Cruz May 11, William J. Chandler, aged 95 years, a native of Massachusetts.

Funeral of the deceased will be held from the Chase undertaking parlors Monday at 2 o'clock P.M. Friends and acquaintances are invited to attend. Interment in SCruz/OMP cemetery.

Veteran of Civil Ward Dies, Age 95

At the age of 95 years, William J. Chandler, a veteran of the Civil War, died at a local hospital yesterday where he had been for but a few days.

Mr. Chandler was a New Englander and was born in the old bay state of Massachusetts. He was especially well known in G.A.R. circles and among the old soldiers, as he was a member of the G.A.R. and enjoyed the companionship of the old soldiers.

His home has been at Garfield Park and he stood high in the estimation of his neighbors in that section of the city and the entire community.

The body is at Chase's undertaking parlors.

William G. Chandler enlisted in the Union army on June 6, 1863 at the age of 36 yrs. He served as a private in Co. L of the 1st CA. Cavalry and was mustered out on June 6, 1866. He later affiliated with Kilpatrick Post # 38 at St. Helena, Napa County.

He was born in Massachusetts in 1827, and by occupation was a Peddler in San Luis Obispo, CA. He died on May 11, 1922 at the age of 95 years in Santa Cruz.
