Funeral of Adam Brabender
Adam Brabender, a most highly esteemed resident, passed away on Saturday evening at his home on Rincon street, at the ripe old age of 88. A life well spent, as he was a man of great strength of character who stood for that which meant for the best things of life, as his ideas were the very highest.
He lived a retired life with his wife since coming to Santa Cruz, where he invested in property and built a number of cottages.
For a number of years he made his home on Spruce street, but a few months ago he removed to Rigg. Several weeks ago he met with an accident and slipped and fell, and as a result his hipbone was broken.
He has had the tender care of his wife and nurse and all was done that could be in his last illness.
He loved Santa Cruz and enjoyed the last days of his life, which were spent in this city. He was a native of Pennsylvania.
The funeral services were held this afternoon. Rev. H.E. Milnes. D.D. of the First Methodist Church , officiating.
Editor's Note: A similar article from the Santa Cruz Evening News of the same date indicates that the pallbearers were J.B. Bias, F.D. Baldwin, C.D. Hinkle, W. P. Netherton, Emmett Rittenhouse, and W.A. Littlefield.
