Maria Elena Olmedo, Watsonville librarian
- Originally from Jocotepec in Jalisco, Mexico
- Family came to Watsonville to work in berry and artichoke fields, where Olmedo would go and help on the weekends
- Worked several hours a week at the library at her high school
- Got her start at the Watsonville public library, started as a page; was eventually promoted to a clerk and then to library assistant
- Helps develop the Spanish language collection
