Trust Building apparently damaged beyond repair

A nighttime gutted the historic Trust Building on Pacific Avenue in downtown Santa Cruz. The piece notes the building had been vacant since damage from the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, that the blaze began on the third floor around 7 p.m., produced intense heat felt blocks away, and caused the roof and upper stories to collapse. Fire crews faced low water pressure before knocking down the flames.
