Library chief's apology falls short for supervisor

- The City of Santa Cruz is responsible for the hiring and appointing of library employees, and has a “no interference” clause
- City Council members cannot request of appointing or removal of employees
- Though this does not mean that the oversight board does not have a say; they can consult the city on such matters
- Library was dealing with a $113,000 deficit
- Turner argued that shutting down the Felton branch would reduce the budget deficit significantly
