In the Boulder Creek neighborhood of Boulder Brook, a resident is missing after a mudslide hit her home. Unstable ground around the slide has made it risky for firefighters to enter the area and a geologist has been called in for expert evaluation. 15 other homes in the Boulder Brook area have been evacuated, and slides on Highway 9 blocked a return home later in the week. The storm arrived with 75mph winds and heavy rains that saturated the Santa Cruz Mountains. The San Lorenzo River and numerous creeks quickly rose and then receded when rains stopped. Geologist state an 80% chance of abundant mudslides and residents are urged to find safer lodging tonight, and in the near future in case of heavier storms. PG&E reports more than 175,000 Northern California residents are without power. 112 mph winds were recorded at Squaw Valley Peak during heavy snow at higher elevations and rain. Storm impacts are widespread across Northern California and more rain is in the forecast.
