From Sue Kerr:
Mary/Mollie Vincenta Thompson was the daughter of William Thompson (aka Guillermo Bocle and William Buckle) and Maria Antonia Castro y Montero. Mollie was baptized in 1849 at Mission Santa Cruz. William Thompson names Maria/Mary Mollie Vincenta Thompson as one of his minor children living with him at the time of his will, written in 1858. The will left 1500 acres of his Carbonero Rancho to his minor heirs.
Mollie was married to William Green in 1867 by the Reverend Father at the Catholic Church in Santa Cruz. William Green died in 1876. In 1879, she married George Calhoun, Sr.; she was George's second wife. In 1880, Mollie and George were living in Oakland with his children by his first wife plus his and Mollie's son, George Jr. Mollie was a dressmaker then and it's possible she is wearing one of her dresses in this photo.
Another son, Leonidas Vincent Starr, was born in 1881 in Santa Cruz. The family was living in Ben Lomond in 1896 where George Sr. was a farmer. According to a news clipping, the next year he moved his family to Lower Lake, Lake County, where he was a clergyman.
As “Mother of the Head of the Household,” Mollie was living with her son, George Jr., and his family in Oakland in 1910.
Mollie and George's younger son, Leonidas, also called Leo and/or Lonny, married Nettie/Nellie Blanch/Hall in 1904. On his WWI draft card, he was listed as an attorney. He remarried at least one other time. He was a judge when he died in Lake County in 1962.
Leo/Lonny and Nettie had a daughter, Hazel Gertrude Starr, who was born in 1907 in Eureka. Hazel married Maurice Frederick Kerr; they had no children. Hazel was the stepmother of Robert M. Kerr who presently (2019) resides in the Scotts Valley area and is the owner of this photograph (which he received from his cousin, Janette Kerr Kassis of Scotts Valley).
Some of Mollie's genealogy (also from Sue Kerr):
Mary/Mollie was the daughter of William and Antonia Castro Thompson; the granddaughter of Ignacio Clemente & Clementine Montero Castro; and the great granddaughter of the San Andres Rancho grantee, Jose Joaquin Castro and his wife, Antonia Amador.
Add 2 more “greats,” and that is where Robert Kerr's stepmother, Hazel Starr Kerr, is on the lineage line from the San Andres Rancho grantee, Joaquin Castro.
