Sergeant Lint served in the Armed Forces as a soldier, marine and airman.
Delbert Henry Lint was born on June 2, 1929, in Seaside, California. His mother's name was Mary Russell Lint. At an early age he and his brothers, Robert, Fred and James, and sisters, Maryann, Betty and Shirley, were brought to the Pajaro Valley by their parents. Delbert was educated in local schools in the Pajaro Valley before entering the service in 1945. His twenty-two-year military career included service in the US Army, US Marine Corps and the US Air Force. During those years, he married and had two daughters, Karon and Sharon, who continued to reside with their mother in Alabama.
On November 15, 1969, Staff Sergeant Lint was serving in the Philippine Islands when he died at a railroad site. Newspaper accounts of the day attributed his death to a train wreck. The remembrance of family members however, is that he was killed by an individual attempting to steal his groceries.
His body was returned to Watsonville and after a military funeral provided by Castle Air Force Base at Whites Chapel, he was interred in Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.
