Parade on Pacific Avenue, viewed from the corner of Lincoln and Pacific. The group in the front is the Alert Hose Company, a volunteer fire brigade. The building on the right with the squared off tower is the Masonic Hall. Further down the street, on the right, is the first Town Clock, built in 1873. The store signs say: Shooting Gallery, Swan's Bakery, Old Corner Saloon, City Stables.

Group portrait of the members of Alert Hose Company, which was an organization of volunteer fire fighters. At that time, hose carts were pulled by teams of men, rather than horses. In 1882, Alert Hose became the State Hose Cart champions in a hose cart pulling competition.
