Unidentified young patrons of the Santa Cruz Public Library's Bookmobile. The boy in back is holding two pet rats. The lettering to the left of the door reads "Speed'n Read'n." This was the official name of the Bookmobile, submitted by Hep Porter of Mountain School in a contest to name the Bookmobile.

Description
An account of the resource
The Santa Cruz Public Library's Bookmobile at White Road and Calabasas. The Bookmobile was built by the Gerstenslager Company. It was a blue and yellow 10-ton Dodge Van able to hold 2,700 volumes. It began service in January 1972 and was declared officially 'dead' in December 1985.
