Santa Cruz Sentinel (October 6, 1918)Death of a Fearless Aviator
A.J. Cory, of 96 Pacheco Ave. received a telegram from the war department late Friday night, announcing the death of his son, Clarence L. somewhere in France.
Mr. Cory served through the Civil War in the 152d Indiana Infantry, and later served his country as representative of the 25th district in the Kansas state legislature.

Adoniram J. Cory, 96 Pacheco Avenue, was born in Syracuse Ind., November 10, 1846, and enlisted in Company A 152nd Indiana volunteer infantry, in January 1865. His duties were mostly in the Shenandoah Valley, where he was in several skirmishes and was at Harpers Ferry when peace was declared.
He was mustered out at Indianapolis after the close of the war and soon afterwards moved to Fort Worth Kansas where he lived until 1913 when he came to Santa Cruz.

Civil War Veteran Dies at Santa Cruz
Another of the few survivors of the Civil War residing in Santa Cruz county is gone with the death of A.J. Cory of Santa Cruz, at his home in that city, Wednesday.
Cory, who was born November 10, 1846, in Syracuse, Ind., enlisted in Company A, 152nd Indiana volunteer infantry, in January 1865. His service was mostly in the Shenandoah Valley, where he was in several skirmishes. He was at Harpers Ferry when the war ended.
Cory was mustered out at Indianapolis and soon afterwards moved to Fort Worth Kansas, where he lived until he came to Santa Cruz in 1913.
A son served in the World War and he made the supreme sacrifice.
Cory is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna T. Cory, and by a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Love, of Hutchinson, Kansas.

Legionnaires Are Pallbearers For Cory Rites Today
The Rev. C. Winning, pastor of the East Side Methodist church today officiated at the funeral services for A.J. Cory which were conducted at the Chase mortuary.
The body was buried in the SCruz/OMP cemetery. Pallbearers were members of the American Legion. Samuel Leask, Jr. Commander, Noel Patterson, Herbert Stott, Ernest Isliker, W.E. Blair and Jack Lee.
Members of the Grand Army of the Republic and Women's Relief Corps were honorary pallbearers. Mr. Cory, 84 years of age, enlisted in Company A 152nd Indiana Volunteer infantry in January 1865, and served during the last months of the Civil War in the Shenandoah valley, where he engaged in several skirmishes. He was at Harpers Ferry when the war ended.
Born in Syracuse, Indiana, he was mustered out of the army in Indianapolis, Indiana, and moved to Fort Worth, Kansas, where he lived until 1913 when he moved to Santa Cruz.
He is survived by his widow Mrs. Anna T. Cory of 96 Pacheco Avenue, and a daughter Mrs. Blanche Love of Hutchinson, Kansas.
